Hello everyone! Welcome to another Bonus Post as part of our get to know the RishRaff Reviewers mini series. This time I, LowKev, will be giving it a go.
Name: LowKev
College Study: Civil Engineering
Alternate Hobbies: Guitar, Video Games, Long Walks, Eating Ramen
Favorite Anime (and why): Angel Beats! It was one of the first shows I watched the whole way through, and it will always have a special place in my heart. Great premise, amazing soundtrack and characters, and some of the most emotional moments I have ever experienced.
Least Favorite Anime (and why): I would have to say Mars of Destruction. While it did have a few so bad it’s good moments, most of it was surprisingly boring and painful to watch. It also had a terrible soundtrack of poorly edited Beethoven compositions (nothing against Beethoven, it was just the way they used the songs).
Anime Character You Best Relate To (and why): I really relate to Kaito Kirishima from Ano Natsu de Matteru. Though I can be loud at times, I do often keep to myself as Kaito does in the series. Though in the end, I do care deeply about my friends and loved ones. I also relate to his desire to make something beautiful, as a snapshot of his youth in a way. As a musician, I greatly relate to this idea of creating something beautiful.
Three Other Fun Facts About Yourself:
- My favorite subgenre of music is Shoegaze/Dream Pop, which focuses on musical atmospheres and beautiful noise (bands like Slowdive, Ride, and Vidulgi OoyoO from South Korea). Emo music (and by that, I mean bands like Sunny Day Real Estate, Elliott, and American Football) comes at a close second.
- I’m a huge fan of the Final Fantasy series, and consider X my personal favorite. I feel that my love of JRPGs played a large role in my curiosity to start watching anime (along with my deep enjoyment of Studio Ghibli films).
- I also really enjoy horror, especially classic survival horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill and so many more. As for movies, I love the original Evil Dead movies, and I recently got around to watching the awesomeness that is the Babadook (there are so many other awesome horror movies as well). I find myself drawn to things that are creepy, yet interesting. Give me great atmosphere, cool monster/antagonist designs, and interesting themes with my horror, and I will be satisfied.
Thanks everyone, and see you next time!
Yes angel beats!
